ORU
All ORU Audio Plugins run in the free open-source plugdata as a VST3, LV2, CLAP or AU.
ORU Audio presents Disperse-X, a magical phase dispersion machine. From boomy and punchy, to watery and smeary, to zappy and laser-y, Disperse-X is a powerful sound-sculpting tool. With identical settings, Disperse-X nulls with Disperser by Kilohearts.
Disperse-X is 100% FREE! If you enjoy it and would like to support me, check out some of my paid plugins (which also have free Lite versions!): T4-PE and HOLO-106, or bundle them together and save with the RetroPallete Collection.
Features
- Amount: Sets the order of the all-pass filter. Each step stacks a second-order filter, meaning at maximum amount the overall filter order is 64. The higher the order, the more pronounced the effect.
- (NEW!) X-Mode: Each level of "Amount" now stacks 8 second-order all-pass filters, meaning at maximum amount the overall filter order goes all the way up to 512. Useful for extreme smeary and zappy sounds, but is more CPU instensive.
- Center Frequency: Sets the center frequency for the filter (can also be set with midi input).
- Smear: Sets the Q of the filter. The higher the value for Q, the more frequencies near the center will "smear" across time.
- Midi: Allows the plugin to accept midi information in order to set the center frequency at exact notes.
- Mix: Controls the balance between the wet and dry signals. Useful for phaser-y sounds.
- Visualizer Window: The window at the top of the plugin visualizes several things.
- The red function (or blue in X-Mode) shows the phase rotation graph of a single second order all-pass filter.
- The top white signal is the input signal
- The bottom white signal is the output signal
Special thanks to Ewan Bristow for his help with the input/output signal visualizer.
